I am going to design a new bridge and would love to see what designs you
have all come up with.   I don't plan on copying, but it is the best form of
flattery!!!

Show me the money....wooops.... show me the bridges

Some of the old timers will recognize the David Russell Young influence on my bridge design.

Ah... thanks man! That's the pic I wanted!

I've since moved away from the 'smiley' holes for the pins, though... (not enough break angle after the saddle that way....)

The first is a prototype of my "Pyra-belly" bridge. There's no holes or saddle slot, and the top is a bit flatter than I use, but it will give you the idea. I use it for OM's and smaller-bodied guitars. What I like about it is that it combines the pyramis bridge but has enough of a belly to give a little arch to the bridge pin placement. Here it is:

This one is cocobolo.

And my standard bridge for SJ's and Dread's:

This one is BRW.

As an aside, making bridges is one of the most fun things in guitarmaking for me. It's a little machining, a little sculpting, and it doesn't take much time to produce something nice.Don Williams39028.7678472222

Bridges? We don' need no bridges! I don't have to show you any stinkin'.....

Sorry, I tried, just couldn't stop myself.

I'll post one when I get home.

Don - nice design, I especially like the bevel on the belly of the BRW one, instead of just rounding it off.

Hesh,
Would you sell me one of your bridges??
I don't plan on a production line of your design, it's just that I'm in a Maritin rut and am getting tired of the same old thing.
If not, I will not be offended. I will understand.
Thanks, walter

Hey Lance, I sure like your bridge design.

Looks very low and sort of slimlined.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the comment. I rather like the bevel myself.
It's actually a partial radius, cut with a carbide bit.
I found a set of CMT carbide bits at my local Woodcraft, and the bit that cuts this was part of that set.
The owner of the store was willing to sell me just the one bit, and he simply ordered a new one for the set.
It's a 1/2" shank bit. Here's a pic:
